Hypnotherapy for Autoimmune Disease
What If You Could Finally Address Autoimmune Flares at a Deeper Level?
Living with autoimmune disease can feel like your body has turned against you.
One day you are doing your best to function. The next, you are hit with exhaustion, inflammation, pain, brain fog, or symptoms that seem to come out of nowhere. You may be following medical advice, trying to reduce stress, cleaning up your diet and doing everything you can to feel better, yet still feel like something deeper keeps pulling your system back into overload.
That is because autoimmune flare patterns are not only physical. They are also influenced by the stress response, the nervous system and the mind body connection. Research in psychoneuroimmunology has shown that psychological stress can affect inflammatory activity and immune function, and that mind body interventions can reduce some markers of inflammation.
At HEAL YOURSELF Therapy, we use hypnotherapy to help address the deeper subconscious patterns, emotional strain, and stress based responses that may be intensifying flare activity and making it harder for your system to settle. This is not about surface level coping. It is about working at a deeper level to help your mind and body shift out of chronic internal alarm and into a more regulated state.

Why Autoimmune Disease Can Be So Overwhelming
When you live with autoimmune disease, you are not only dealing with symptoms. You are dealing with uncertainty.
You may be constantly bracing for the next flare. Watching your body closely. Questioning what triggered this round. Wondering why you are so tired. Feeling frustrated that other people do not fully understand what it is like to live with an unpredictable system.
Over time, that kind of strain can become its own burden. The body may be inflamed, but the mind can also become exhausted. The nervous system can become stuck in vigilance. The emotional system can carry fear, grief, anger, helplessness, or a deep sense of disconnection from your own body.
Research shows that psychological stress is linked to inflammatory activation through pathways involving the sympathetic nervous system and the HPA axis, which is one reason mind-body work has drawn scientific interest in inflammatory conditions.
If you have felt like your body is always on edge, there may be more going on than symptoms alone. There may also be a deeper pattern of subconscious stress and emotional overload keeping your system from fully exhaling.
The Science Behind Hypnotherapy and Autoimmune Conditions
The mind-body connection is not just a motivational phrase. It is a biological reality.
Research has shown that stress can influence immune activity and inflammation, and that mind body interventions can help reduce inflammatory burden. In a major meta analysis of randomized controlled trials, mind body therapies were associated with reductions in inflammatory markers, including a significant reduction in C reactive protein, with a smaller and not statistically significant reduction in IL 6 overall. The authors concluded that mind body therapies have immunomodulatory effects, even though more rigorous research is still needed.
That matters because many people with autoimmune disease are not only dealing with the illness itself. They are also living in a body that feels chronically stressed, guarded, and overactivated.
Hypnotherapy works at that deeper level.
By guiding the mind into a calm and highly focused state, hypnotherapy helps you access the subconscious patterns that may be keeping your system locked in chronic alarm. This can help reduce the emotional and physiological stress load that may be contributing to symptom intensity and flare vulnerability.
There is also condition specific evidence that makes this especially relevant. In a controlled study on rheumatoid arthritis, hypnosis was associated with improvements in subjective symptoms and in objective measures of disease activity compared with relaxation and wait list controls. Researchers reported changes in markers such as erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C reactive protein, hemoglobin, and leukocyte counts.
In inflammatory bowel disease research, a hypnosis study in active ulcerative colitis found reductions in components of the systemic and mucosal inflammatory response, including reduced serum IL 6, which suggests hypnosis may influence not only stress and coping, but also inflammatory pathways tied to disease activity.
At HEAL YOURSELF Therapy, we use hypnotherapy to help calm the deeper internal patterns that may be aggravating your system, so your body is not constantly receiving the message that it must stay on high alert.

I have had sessions with Grawben for the past 9 months and I can truly say it has made a difference in my life. At first I wasn’t sure what hypnosis and these sessions would be like- nor do I know if it’s the same for everyone else- but let me explain how my sessions have been, just in case you’re curious. The first half or so of the session we discuss anything happening in my life/ things I am struggling with/ or just what I would like to focus on. Grawben always has such pertinent questions to draw out more information and to really see what I am saying in a new and truer light. The insight from the “talking portion” is valuable in itself. But after we talk (and she takes notes) she basically freestyles a hypnosis that is specifically tailored to you and what you need to work through from that session. Let me be clear- I was worried that during hypnosis I would have “no control” or say something I would regret later but it’s almost like a meditation, all you have to do is relax and listen, that’s it. Sometimes I would fall asleep other times no, but part of the work is listening to the hypnosis audios (she records them and sends them to you) on a regular basis between sessions to truly shift things in your subconscious and if you fall asleep during them (which I do most of the time) it’s actually great, so I love that about it. I had tried other forms of therapy before, but they didn’t really do much for me. Because of my upbringing I have had a lot of limiting beliefs so that’s what I really wanted to heal and talk therapy doesn’t reach that level because our beliefs are deep and hardwired- hypnosis targets the subconscious where these live. The sessions have helped me build boundaries, speak up for myself, grow my self-worth and self-love, deal with loss and grief, and become more aware of when I am disregulated. Anyway, I definitely recommend hypnotherapy. Grawben is of Hispanic background as well (she also has sessions in Spanish) if that is something that you are looking for. I know that for me (being of Mexican background) the fact that she understood a lot of my family dynamics made a big impact on me because I really felt validated. Thanks Grawben!Posted on Google Reyes YesseniaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Life Changing Experience! This was my first time trying hypnotherapy, and I was truly amazed. The moment I woke up from the session, I felt lighter as if 50 pounds had been lifted off my shoulders. I immediately noticed a shift in my mindset and energy. I felt more positive, more free, and genuinely better. Grawben did an incredible job guiding me through the process with care and professionalism. She's an amazing therapist, and I can’t recommend her enough. I was initially looking for a hypnotherapist, then saw that HEAL YOURSELF LA offers body coding. Never heard of it before, but it intrigued me. Reading the description I felt called to do a session. After my first session with Jennilyn, I was amazed how fast it worked! I started seeing, feeling, experiencing the results right away. I worked on a few things and just a couple hours after the session the answer I was looking for came knocking in. It was divine timing. I’ve done another session since then and she is an amazing beautiful soul. I have definitely felt more peace and grounded. I am definitely in my heart more than my mind. Which in turn makes me feel more present. :)Posted on Google Sandra DesaiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I did a remote hypnotherapy session with Sasha to help with my anxiety and some past traumas that keep coming back up. I was a bit skeptical about doing a remote session because I had only done in person sessions with other hypnotherapists in the past. But the results from just a single session have been great. My default anxiety level has dropped from being too high to normal. I listen to the recording on most nights and I feel it helping me a bit more every time. I was really struggling for a few weeks after a recent incident triggered some bad memories and since our session my anxiety has come back down and I don’t feel it weighing me down anymore. Also Sasha is just very likable and great to work with in general. Thanks Sasha!Posted on Google Juana CocaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. When I heard about the Healing Code, I was curious to try it. At the time, I was experiencing insomnia, emotional unease and intrusive and repetitive thoughts. To help my congested mind, I booked a session with Jennily. During our session, Jennily was able to identify and release blockages and trapped emotion in various organs of my body. I now feel at peace with myself. I am in control of my emotional wellbeing and the things that were once upsetting to me, no longer seem to have the same effect. I highly recommend Jennily to anyone seeking a better state of mind. She is absolutely wonderful— she made me feel comfortable and cared for. It was like speaking with a close friend. I have had two sessions with Sasha and she’s absolutely amazing! I have seen other hypnotherapists in the past, and Sasha definitely stands out from the rest. She’s the real deal and helped me with the trauma I was suffering from losing my father a year and a half ago. One of the things that makes her truly special is her NRT or Neurosymatic Reconditioning Technique. It’s basically the opening and closing of your chakra during her session. Another point that makes Sasha unique is that she records your session and actually sends you a link for you to hear and to use while working on yourself individually. Her hypnotherapy was fine-tuned and specific to exactly what I needed. Sasha’s approach is gentle, caring, credible and she makes me feel like I’m talking to a best friend! Deep Healing, Not Surface Level Coping
If you are living with autoimmune disease, you do not need another person telling you to just relax.
You need a way to work with what may be happening underneath the surface.
For many people, chronic illness comes with deeply embedded patterns of fear, internal pressure, emotional suppression, hypervigilance, self abandonment, or subconscious stress conditioning. These patterns may not cause autoimmune disease on their own, but they can keep the nervous system dysregulated and may contribute to a body that stays in a more reactive state. Research on mind body therapies supports the idea that reducing stress related dysregulation can influence inflammatory biology.
Hypnotherapy helps you work with those deeper patterns.
It helps you retrain the mind and body responses that may be intensifying your symptoms, exhausting your system, and keeping you emotionally locked in survival mode. Rather than only helping you manage the day to day experience of illness, it helps address the deeper emotional and subconscious burden that may be feeding flare activity and making recovery harder.
Imagine feeling less internal pressure. Less fear every time symptoms rise. Less emotional wear and tear from always having to brace. More calm. More resilience. More trust in your body. More ability to settle.
That is the kind of change deeper work can begin to create.
The Hypnotherapy Process: How It Works
Step 1: Identify the deeper patterns that may be aggravating your system
We look at the emotional strain, subconscious responses, internal beliefs and stress based patterns that may be keeping your body in a more reactive state.
Step 2: Shift the subconscious stress response
Through hypnotherapy, we help calm the internal alarm system and begin retraining how your mind and body respond, so you can move toward greater regulation, safety and ease.
Step 3: Reinforce the new pattern
Each session includes a professional recording so you can continue strengthening the work between appointments. Repetition helps the mind and body learn a different internal response over time.
You may not be able to control every variable involved in autoimmune disease. But you can work with the deeper stress and emotional patterns that may be intensifying what your body is going through.
Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy for Autoimmune Disease
Can hypnotherapy help with autoimmune disease?
Research suggests that hypnosis and other mind body interventions may help reduce stress, improve coping and influence inflammatory or immune related processes in some conditions. In rheumatoid arthritis, hypnosis was linked to improvements in symptoms and disease activity measures. In active ulcerative colitis, hypnosis was associated with reductions in inflammatory responses, including reduced serum IL 6.
Is there research suggesting hypnotherapy may influence immune markers?
Yes. Some studies suggest that hypnosis and related mind body interventions may positively influence inflammatory and immune related markers in certain conditions. While this area is still developing, the findings are promising and support the idea that working with the subconscious mind and stress response may have meaningful effects on the body as well as on the emotional experience of illness.
How can chronic stress affect autoimmune health?
Chronic stress can affect autoimmune health by keeping the nervous system and stress response activated for long periods of time. Research shows that ongoing stress can influence immune regulation and inflammation through pathways involving the sympathetic nervous system and the HPA axis. That matters because many people with autoimmune disease notice that periods of prolonged stress seem to coincide with worse symptoms or flare ups. While stress is not the sole cause of autoimmune disease, it may aggravate the internal environment and make the body’s burden harder to manage. This is one reason deeper work that helps calm subconscious stress patterns and regulate the nervous system may be so valuable.
What is the link between trauma and autoimmune disorders?
Studies suggest that trauma may play a role in autoimmune vulnerability by keeping the body in a prolonged stress state that can affect immune balance and inflammation. When the system stays stuck in survival mode for too long, it may create internal conditions that are more taxing on the body over time. Researchers have found an association between trauma related disorders such as PTSD and a higher risk of certain autoimmune diseases, which is why deeper work around subconscious stress patterns and unresolved emotional burden may be so important as part of a broader healing approach. Trauma is not the only factor, but it may be one meaningful piece of the picture.
Can autoimmune disease symptoms mimic anxiety or burnout?
Absolutely. Autoimmune symptoms can create a picture that looks very similar to anxiety or burnout. Ongoing fatigue, brain fog, sleep disruption, mental exhaustion, physical tension and feeling constantly depleted can easily be mistaken for stress alone. In reality, many people with autoimmune disease are dealing with both the physical burden of inflammation and the emotional toll of living in a body that feels unpredictable. That overlap is one reason these conditions can be so misunderstood and why deeper support can be so important.
Can hypnotherapy help heal deeply embedded thoughts and emotions?
That is one of the main reasons people seek it out. Hypnotherapy is designed to work at the subconscious level, where many automatic emotional responses, stress patterns and conditioned beliefs are stored. For someone living with autoimmune disease, this can be especially important when chronic illness has been accompanied by fear, grief, inner tension, helplessness or a body that feels stuck in alarm.
Can this replace my doctor or medication?
No. Hypnotherapy should not replace medical evaluation or treatment for autoimmune disease. It is best used as part of a broader care approach.
How many sessions will I need?
Every person is different, but many people benefit from 4 to 5 sessions. Some begin to notice shifts right away, especially in how they feel emotionally, how quickly they can settle and how they relate to their body. Repetition helps make the new pattern more natural and lasting.

The Cost of Doing Nothing
When the deeper stress response remains unaddressed, autoimmune disease can take over more than your body.
It can affect your mood, your confidence, your relationships, your sleep, your sense of identity, and the way you move through daily life. It can leave you feeling like you are always adjusting, always managing, always bracing.
You deserve more than survival. You deserve a chance to work with the internal patterns that may be making this even harder on your system.
Do not keep carrying the emotional and subconscious burden of chronic illness alone.
“For years, I woke up with a tight chest and a racing mind. Talk therapy didn’t help. I didn’t want to rely on medication. After starting hypnotherapy, I began to notice real change. My thoughts slowed down, and my body finally relaxed. Now, I stay calm and in control, even in situations that used to overwhelm me. It’s truly been a life-changing experience.”
Marissa L.
“I’d always seen myself as an anxious person. It felt like it had been part of me for as long as I could remember. Things got worse when the pressure from my already demanding job intensified. I was so overwhelmed. My girlfriend mentioned that she had already come in and that her hypnotherapy sessions had helped her heal from childhood trauma. I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did. It’s made a world of a difference. I’m calmer, more centered, and in control of my emotions. An added bonus is that for the first time in my life, I feel genuinely confident.”
